Terminals
Gibson owns and operates two proprietary terminals in the Edmonton, Alberta area.
- Edmonton South Terminal is located in the heart of "Pipeline Alley" and terminals diesel fuel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and crude oil. The terminal is serviced by both the CP and CN Rail systems, has four pipeline connections (including Enbridge and Trans Mountain pipelines), and has multiple truck loading and offloading capabilities for the various products we handle.
- Edmonton North Terminal is located just north of "Pipeline Alley" and handles crude oils and condensates received from two pipeline systems. The facility has capability to deliver product by pipeline to the Enbridge and Trans Mountain pipelines. The terminal and the delivery pipeline is remotely monitored and controlled from our control centre in Hardisty, Alberta.
Gibson’s Hardisty Terminal, with 1.6 million barrels of storage, provides customers with diverse terminalling services, which includes truck loading and offloading, crude blending and cooling, storage for volumes from the Bellshill Lake, Provost, Bow River, Hamilton Lake and Athabasca pipelines, and delivery services to the Enbridge, Express and Bow River Southbound pipelines and to the adjacent terminal owned by Husky Energy.

Pipelines
Gibson owns and operates two feeder pipeline systems in the Hardisty area of Alberta -- the Bellshill Lake and Provost pipelines.
- The Bellshill Lake Pipeline, which consists of 150 kilometres of pipe extending west of the Hardisty Terminal, handles two stream types that are batched down the mainline to the Terminal.
- The Provost Pipeline consists of almost 300 kilometres of pipe extending east of the Hardisty Terminal. The line transports two stream crude types, which are batched down the mainline into the Terminal. Diluent injection points along the line ensure efficient crude transport.
Through a state-of-the-art Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system based in Hardisty, we remotely monitor all key pipeline and terminal functions 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
This capability allows us to operate our facilities within clearly defined operating parameters, which along with our stringent integrity program, ensures safe and environmentally-sound operations.
