Epic/Cuttings Disposal

Gibson’s Environmental Processing Innovation Center provides an efficient method of treating and recycling oil-based drilling fluids and cuttings wastes.

Cost and Operating Efficiency

EPIC’s thermal treatment technology completely processes waste in three to four hours – a significant reduction from the turnaround time it can take to transport waste to the nearest licensed disposal facility. EPIC also handles oil-based cuttings waste and provides tank and box cleaning services. We take title to all waste and ensure proper disposal. Unlike landfills, which are typically open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., EPIC operates when you do: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Environmental Efficiency

EPIC’s environmentally efficient thermal treatment process extracts diesel from solids. Solids can then be recycled for reuse or transported to approved landfills without harm to the environment. The extracted diesel oil can be sold as boiler fuel or reused in off-road diesel. By using recycled water in the extraction process and reducing lengthy landfill transportation runs, EPIC further enhances environmental efficiency.

Bundled Services

EPIC environmental processing services work hand in hand with a wide range of OMNI’s onshore environmental services lineup, including:

  • Saltwater disposal
  • Transportation
  • Frac flowback
  • Solid waste disposal
  • Equipment leasing: vacuum tankers, roll-off boxes, frac tanks
  • Turnkey drilling waste management package

Process Recycling Disposal and Landfill

Gibsons’ Bakken-based PRD and landfill provide critical waste processing and disposal services to producers in an area that has been hampered by constrained infrastructure. Our modern PRD facility has capacity to process 40,000-45,000 bbl/month of waste streams including: tank bottoms, swab oil, drill cuttings, oil spills, pit oil, skim oil from SWD tanks and other waste crude from oil and gas drilling and production. Our landfill has capacity for 240,000 tons per year of oilfield waste and total capacity is estimated at 4.8 million tons. Acceptable waste streams include solid waste, NORM compliant flow back frac sand and spills, cleanups and stabilized drilling mud/cuttings. Gibson’s Bakken environmental complex also includes a full service, DNR-licensed salt water disposal well, which provides complete water management services for produced, flowback and pit waters.
